Savannah OktoberfestWith scrumptious food, live entertainment, wiener dog races and so much more, nothing beats this Savannah festival. Held on Historic River Street, the Savannah Oktoberfest is a great way to enjoy German culture, Savannah style! We here at Presidents’ Quarters Inn want you to know the ins and outs of one of the best festivals the city offers. With a beer garden offering a variety of beers, food booths featuring German cuisine, and of course, the famous Wiener Dog Races hosted by Savannah Morning News, the Savannah Oktoberfest offers you an unforgettable time.

One of the highlights of the Savannah Oktoberfest is the Wiener Dog Race! Start getting your Wiener dogs ready for an exciting race, just for them. Race day is October 4, 2014, and you may register online or on race day at Morrell Park on the east end of River Street. Walk-up registration is $25 per dog entered, cash or check only; they cannot take credit cards on site. The fee includes the race and one awesome race day T-shirt. 

Dogs participating in the race will run in heats of 10 dogs each, until all registered competitors have raced. The winners of the 10 fastest heats will race in a final heat; trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers. During the your dogs heat, you must have an assistant at the starting gate and one at the finish line waiting on your pup. This is an exciting event you don’t want to miss out on! Don’t worry about finding a place that allows dogs. The Presidents’Quarters Inn is pet friendly and loves taking care of not only you but also your canine friend! 

That is not all the Savannah Oktoberfest offers. Starting on October 3rd, this three day festival is filled will fantastic exhibits and art. Take time and wander through the regional arts & crafts exhibitors displays and learn a little about the area and German culture. Another excellent part of the festival is the live entertainment on the Arbor Stage. Throughout the event, you will be entertained by some of the best musicians in the area. Enjoy authentic German food and drink at the beer garden, which offers a variety of beers or from one of the many food booths while you listen to the sweet music.

The festival hours are Friday, from 4 P.M. to 10 P.M., Saturday, from 10 A.M. to 10 P.M., and Sunday, from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Admission into the Savannah Oktoberfest is free, making it even more amazing! Come out and celebrate German culture Savannah style at the 31st Annual Oktoberfest!
