Are you a fan of literature? Don’t miss the 10th Annual Savannah Book Festival in Savannah, Georgia! This world-class event celebrates the written word and promotes reading, writing, and civil conversation. It features a full roster of bestselling and emerging authors, each representing different subjects and genres. This year’s festival is slated for February 16-19, 2017 and will be held around Savannah’s historic Telfair, Wright, and Chippewa Squares. Here are a few things to know before you go.
What You’ll See at the 2017 Savannah Book Festival
The 2017 Savannah Book Festival has three headliner events: the Opening, Keynote, and Closing Addresses at Trustees Theater. On Festival Saturday, Telfair Square comes alive with an information tent, book tent, and signing tent where you can meet authors and have your booked signed. Thursday, February 16 | 6 p.m.
James Patterson, author of the New York Times bestselling novel Cross the Line, will present the Opening Address on February 16. Patterson currently holds the Guinness World Record for #1 New York Times bestsellers. Tickets are $20 per person.
Friday, February 17 | 6 p.m.
Colson Whitehead is the winner of 2016’s National Book Award for fiction and is this year’s Keynote Speaker. He brings with him one of the year’s most celebrated novels – The Underground Railroad. Tickets are $20 per person.
Saturday, February 18
Over 40 authors are scheduled to appear at seven venues on Saturday. The event is free, and seats are available on a first come, first-served basis. No tickets are required for Festival Saturday author presentations.
Sunday, February 19 | 3 p.m.
Closing the festival is Christina Baker Kline, author of the bestselling novel Orphan Train. Kline’s latest novel, A Piece of the World, will also be available for the first time at the 2017 Savannah Book Festival. Tickets are $20 per person. Guests can purchase their tickets online for headliner events or call the Savannah Box Office at (912) 525-5050.
