Are you an avid runner? Consider signing up for the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run! Founded in 1991, this popular race allows participants to run or walk over the historic Talmadge Bridge 1, 2 or 3 times! The event benefits the Cancer & Research Pavilion at St. Joseph’s / Candler and is organized by the Savannah Sports Council. Now in its 25th year, the Savannah Bridge Run will be held on December 3, 2016.
Your Guide to the Savannah Bridge Run
The Bridge Run course winds over the Talmadge Bridge, 196 feet above the Savannah River. The event involves three races: the 5K, 10K, and Double Pump. All participants will receive a commemorative finisher medal and a long sleeve participant shirt. Here are some things you should know about each race.
5K Race: The 5K is a one-hour race that starts at 8 a.m. on Hutchinson Island. Participants can either park at the Trade Center, ride the water ferry, or take a complimentary trolley shuttle from the Civic Center parking lot. Once you cross the finish line, head to Broughton St. for beer and live music at the celebratory post-race party.
10K Race: Unlike the 5K, the 10K Savannah Bridge Run race begins at 9 a.m. and lasts for one hour and 45 minutes. Participants will run through scenic downtown Savannah and endure two trips over Talmadge Bridge, culminating with a finish on Broughton St. for the after party.
Double Pump: The 2 hour, 45 minute Double Pump is the South’s toughest bridge run. Participants can take on the challenge and run in both the 5K and 10K events for three trips over Talmadge Bridge. Reward yourself afterward with a cold one at the post-race party.

Health & Wellness Expo
Before the race, head to the Health & Wellness Expo to pick up your race packet on Friday, December 2nd. This daylong event features 25 running and health-related vendors, merchandise sales, and visitor information. The expo will be held at the Savannah Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you were planning on wearing your gym clothes to the race, think again! The Savannah Bridge Run encourages participants to show their creative side with an annual costume contest. Costumes will be judged by volunteers and staff, and prizes will be awarded at the conclusion of the 5K awards. We promise that dressing up makes the Savannah Bridge Run even more fun!
