Take a Trip to Skidaway Island State Park
1. Traverse the Trails
With 7 miles of scenic nature trails, Skidaway Island State Park is the perfect place to explore. Guests can spend an afternoon hiking or biking through the park, and bicycle rentals are available at the park office. The trails wind through maritime forest and past salt marsh, leading to a boardwalk and observation tower. Keep your eyes peeled for native wildlife like deer, fiddler crabs, raccoon, and egrets, and be sure to check out a Skidaway Island trail map before heading out!
2. Go Birding
One of the most popular attractions at Skidaway Island State Park is the Colonial Coast Birding Trail. More than 300 species of birds have been spotted by guests here! The trail features 18 sites where visitors can observe different bird communities in a variety of habitats including salt marshes, old rice fields, woodlands, freshwater wetlands, and more.
